Tonight….August 26th at 7:30 PM it all begins….
259 days ago West Virginia ended the PSU Women’s Soccer team’s season in the second round of the NCAA tournament in Morgantown, West Virginia. Since that day we have had this date circled as the date that the Mountaineers run into a buzzsaw at Jeffrey Field.
There is no better setting or opponent for us to open our first game as the Park Avenue Army. The team will open up tonight in near perfect conditions on one of the best surfaces in the country. It is OUR JOB to make sure that we let the Mountaineers and the entire country know that Penn State has the best fan section of any team in the land.
We anticipate drawing record numbers for tonight’s game. Last year’s home opener drew 3,900+ and we fully expect to eclipse the 4,000 mark tonight. We are asking that you spread the word about tonight’s game to EVERYBODY you can.
Carver’s Deli has sponsored free pre-game food and we will be distributing free Park Avenue Army t-shirts to the first 250 students in attendance. Food and shirts will be distributed in the grass parking lots above Jeffrey Field. We will also have music and soccer tennis nets available in the leadup to the game. Festivities will begin at 6:30 and we will march into the stadium with our two drums at 7:10 into our seating area. Song sheets will be distributed in the parking lot and at the field so we can make the most noise possible…..we want to be standing and singing for as much of the match as possible. At halftime we will have pizza delivered for the group and all students in attendance will earn Code Blue Points, PSU’s new student rewards program. One student will win a $100 gift card to the Penn State Bookstore at halftime.
